Leading the Liberal team in East Ward are your candidates Clr Jordan Lane and Sophie Lara-Watson.
Dynamic, motivated and passionate local professionals, Jordan and Sophie will bring a fresh approach to Ryde Council, fighting for the essential services and infrastructure that East Ward needs, getting Ryde moving again post-pandemic, and putting an end to Labor’s rising debt and overdevelopment.
As your local Councillor, Jordan has secured millions of dollars for new playgrounds, environment and reconciliation projects. He has driven long-overdue planning reform and ensured funding is available for essential road safety upgrades. He is particularly proud to have kept his election promise of issuing an itemised rate receipt to every single ratepayer in Ryde – which allows you to know exactly how your hard earned dollars are spent, and improve transparency on Council.
Jordan has fought to fix Ryde’s broken planning laws, and was proud to spearhead campaigns to save Macquarie Ice Rink, stop Labor’s 63 storey Laxale Towers in Macquarie Park and remove Manor Homes from your local streets. He holds a Masters in Commerce specialising in major infrastructure, and is undertaking postgraduate studies in law.
Joining Jordan is Sophie Lara-Watson, a chartered accountant who has grown up in, and still calls Ryde home.
Sophie believes that our community deserves better. Ryde needs local councillors who can ask the tough questions about how our rates are being spent, who understands the importance of preserving our green spaces, and appreciate the need to support local businesses post-pandemic.
If elected, Jordan and Sophie will help lead Ryde’s COVID-recovery, repay Council’s record debt and stop Labor’s cash deals with developers. Drawing on Jordan’s project management skills and Sophie’s financial expertise, they will work constructively with the NSW and Federal Government to secure Ryde’s future.
Both Jordan and Sophie hold full-time jobs in the private sector as well as serving their community, and understand the pressures busy working families face in Ryde. They are energised to make Ryde the best it can be.
On Saturday, 4 December 2021, vote 1 for your Liberal team in East Ward.
